These works are maquettes purposed to evoke a fantasy outdoor construction of unknown dimensions in a far away land. The Blackwalnut “L” shaped forms were made and fitted to grooves carved from a cherry wood base. Together they form a Lap Joint. My main interest in making these maquettes is to miniaturize the viewer, transporting him or her to a whole new world- to visualize a relationship between landscape, form and themself. Each maquette weighs approximately fourty pounds. Wooden Landscape #1 measures roughly twenty inches by twenty six and from five to nine inches deep. Wooden Landscape #2 measures approximately twenty four inches by twenty one and is roughly eight and one half inches high.
