Matt Kinney is an American artist based in New York. His work primarily deals with ideas on creative trance and ancient Animistic views. Sculptures are hand carved primarily in wood and stone, cast in metal and integrate found objects to create works that are familiar yet transformed, to create a tapestry of perception.

Kinney’s art has shown internationally in numerous exhibitions and is represented by Ethan Cohen Gallery, New York and Robin Rice Gallery, New York. Currently, on view with Ethan Cohen Gallery, are a selection of hand carved sculptures in Ebony and Black Walnut wood, from his ongoing body of work - entitled “Sacred Objects”. In 2023, Robin Rice Gallery, New York City (solo show), exhibited large monochromatic oil paintings from Matt’s ongoing “Spirit Animal” series. He loves to travel because of his art. In 2019, by invitation, was Artist-in Residence at Boxes Art Museum, Foshan, China. Over the course of several months there, created twenty-five sculptures culminating in solo shows - entitled “Made in China” at Boxes Art Museum and Guangzhou Academy of Fine Art.
